This one is definitely best with some great mix ins, and for that, we’ve got you covered!
What is a Caesar?
A caesar cocktail is many things:
- A beloved favorite of our Northern Neighbors across the border. (In fact, Canada loves it so much, they named it their national drink, and dubbed May 18th “National Caesar Day!”)
- A great after-work cocktail for when you feel like saying “with Clamato, eh” to your bartender.
- The ideal drink for brunches… (especially when the brunches involve egg dishes.)
- The drink of choice for those who like a little heat whilst having a cocktail!
However, there is one thing a Caesar Drink is not. It’s not a Bloody Mary. A Bloody Mary, in general, does not include Clamato juice in the mix, but rather uses plain tomato juice or vegetable juice.
A Caesar, my friends, takes it up a notch. You’ll love it. Carpe Clamato!
Ingredients in a caesar are always vodka and clamato juice, the other additions can vary from recipe to recipe. Clamato is similar to a tomato juice but so much more flavorful (and great in soups, stews and even added to beer).
How To Make A Caesar Drink
A caesar drink takes very few steps to prepare but before you start, pop the glass in the freezer for frosted cup!
- Rub edges of a glass with lime, and tip in celery salt (or coarse salt) if desired.
- Measure all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker (per recipe below) with ice, and shake thoroughly for 30 seconds.
- Strain into a glass over ice.
Garnish as desired.
My Favorite Caesar Toppings
Celery and pickled asparagus are go-to garnishes, but there are lots of things to try.
- Celery is traditional!
- Pickled peppers or green beans
- Cocktail onions or olives
- Chopped cilantro or basil, other Italian style herbs.
Or go wild and garnish with a slice of crispy bacon, a pepperoni stick or beef jerky, a sprinkle of feta cheese or parmesan, clams or oysters, or even pickled eggs!
This is one of those drinks that people love to make into a complete meal, so have some fun, (and drink responsibly).
