We love that it needs just minutes of prep and is as pretty as it is delicious!

How to Make Jell-o Salad

Although some Jell-o salads are made in a jello mold, this one is more like a fluff (similar to ambrosia salad). It’s rich, creamy, and dreamy.

A Pretty in Pink Jello Salad

  • Jello fruit salad needs just minutes to prep.

  • This is best made ahead of time making it potluck perfect.

  • No cooking required.

  • Full of fresh berries and it is delicious.

  • A vintage recipe that has stood the test of time!

  • Rinse the berries and dry well. Slice strawberries if needed.

  • Combine cottage cheese and jello powder in a large mixing bowl.

  • Stir in remaining ingredients and refrigerate.

Ingredients in Jello Salad

JELLO: We use strawberry jello but raspberry jello (or really any fruity flavored gelatin) will work. Choose something red or pink for this recipe.

COTTAGE CHEESE: We love cottage cheese in this salad (and even those who don’t care for cottage cheese love it). You can substitute  cream cheese or cool whip.

FRUIT: Fresh berries are perfect in this recipe, use one kind or many kinds of berries if you can. Sometimes we do just sliced strawberries for a strawberry jello salad.

Variations

  • Flavors: Try other flavors of jello and fruits like orange, pineapple or cherry.
  • Additions: Add in your favorites from pecans to sliced bananas.
  • Looking to lighten this recipe up a little bit? You can use sugar-free in this recipe and choose low fat whipped topping and cottage cheese.

Jello Salad Recipe Tips:

  • Any type of fresh berries can be used in this recipe. You will need a total of ~4 cups of fresh mixed berries.
  • When combining the cottage cheese with the jello powder, mix with a hand mixer to make the consistency of the cottage cheese a little bit smoother. Mix with a spoon if you prefer more texture.
  • Refrigerate before serving to allow the flavors to blend and thicken the fluff.
  • I have tested this with freshly whipped cream and while it is delicious, it doesn’t set up as well.
  • You can freeze jello salad and serve it frozen in squares (like we do with our Cherry Fluff Salad)

This fluffy jello fruit salad can be served as a side dish or as a dessert. I love to spoon it on angel food cake as a topping too!
