Apple Pie Dumplings made with just two easy ingredients! Simply add them to a baking dish and cook until tender and lightly browned. Serve these dumplings warm out of the oven with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of heavy cream.
This has to be the easiest dessert EVER, you’re just two ingredients away from an amazing dessert! My 10 year old probably would’ve eaten the whole recipe had I let her (trust me, she asked)!
When purchasing canned apple pie filling, I highly recommend buying a good quality brand. It may cost a few pennies extra, but this is the one place I think it’s worth it! I’ve found most store brand pie fillings taste pretty close the the name brands… except apple. The store brand apple pie fillings never seem to taste the same to me!
If you prefer, you can certainly use a quick homemade apple pie filling which only takes a few minutes to make! While this recipe calls for just one can of filling, adding two works great if you like more apples in your dessert (and increases the servings from 4 to 6).
Because our store doesn’t carry the apple pie filling with cinnamon, I like to add a dash of cinnamon. Of course this takes the recipe from 2 ingredients to 3 but it also adds a lot of extra flavor! Feel free to get creative and toss in some pecans, walnuts, raisins, coconut or whatever you happen to have on hand!
You’ll want to ensure your apple/crescent mixture is spread out in a dish (mine was 2qt.). After 15 minutes I flip the crescents over, you don’t have to but it gives a more even cook and makes sure everything is all spread out.
I personally top mine with ice cream (or whipped cream if it’s all I have on hand) but my husband LOVES to top his with heavy cream and a drizzle of caramel.
This recipe has been one of my top and most loved recipes forever! I’ve made this countless times, always with great results. It’s amazing that combining Apple Pie filling and crescent rolls can create such a delicious dessert!

Note: The baking time on this recipe can vary. Mine always takes 25 minutes but depending on the dish you use, you may need to add a few minutes to your bake time. Be sure that your dough is on top of the apples and somewhat spread out. This will also work with rolls of biscuit dough.
